International Student Admissions
Who qualifies to be an International Student?
Simpson University is proud to welcome students from around the world into our Christ-centered academic community. You are considered an international applicant if you are not a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen. If you are a U.S. citizen living abroad, or if you hold eligible non-citizen status (such as a permanent resident), you will apply through the domestic admissions process.
International Undergraduate Students
Admissions Requirements
First-Time Freshman
International students are fully qualified with a 2.7 Unweighted GPA and if they have graduated Highschool.
Prospective Science & Nursing Majors
- Recommended to have Algebra II, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
- 3.2 minimum unweighted high school GPA
- Qualifying SAT / ACT
Transfer Students
- 2.5 cumulative college GPA
- All courses must have a “C” (2.0) or higher. Each general education course is evaluated for breadth of knowledge and transferred in accordingly by the office of the Registrar.

- SAT – 910 (410 on reading and writing section)
- PTE – 53
- Duolingo – 110
- TOEFL – 79

- Send in your EP scores and unofficial transcripts
- Email them to transcripts@simpsonu.edu
- Pay your $200 Advanced Tuition Deposit
- You can pay online here
- You can call your admissions counselor for instructions.
- Complete your I-20 application
- Return your I-20 application form
- Submit a copy of your passport
- Provide proof of finances
- Complete your Visa process
- Pay the SEVIS fee at www.fmjfee.com
- FIll out the DS-160 form at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv
- Schedule your visa interview at your local U.S. Consulate
*Note: Students transferring from another school in the U.S. will fill out a transfer form instead of completing this section. Canadian students are only required to pay the SEVIS fee in this section.
I-20 Process
- Submit the I-20 application
- Provide financial information. US law requires that you prove your ability to support yourself for every year of your program of study.
- Student Proof of Income (If student is paying)
- Student Bank Statements (If student is paying)
- Affidavit of Financial Support
- Sponsors proof of Income (if sponsor is paying for tuition)
- Sponsors bank Statements (if sponsor is paying for tuition)

Provisional Acceptance
Students who do not meet the standard academic admission requirements, yet show academic promise and potential, may be provisionally admitted to the university. Students who are provisionally accepted are limited to taking 13 credits during their first semester. In addition they must meet with the Academic Success Center to establish an academic contract at the beginning of the semester. Contracts will require a meeting with Academic Advising. In addition, contracts may include other requirements such as additional meetings, academic workshop attendance, study skills training, and other activities as deemed necessary. In this way contracts will be individualized to support the needs and situation of each student.
Students must finish their first semester with a grade point average of 2.1 or higher. Students who do not meet the above requirements their first semester may be placed on provisional status (or other academic status) for a second semester. Students who successfully meet the above requirements are granted full acceptance into the university.
International Graduate Students
Simpson University currently offers four programs to International Students seeking an F-1 Visa:
- Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology
- Master of Arts in Education
- Master of Business Administration
- Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership
